Cecile Sands has lived in Gainesville and been a member of the parish since August 2001. She is a native of Louisville, KY and has also lived in Indiana, Illinois and Arkansas. Cecile has a B.A. and M.A. in Anthropology from Indiana University (1981) and the University of Arkansas (1989), respectively. Prior to becoming one of the parish secretaries, she has worked at the University of Arkansas, the University of Florida’s Harn Museum of Art, and is also working part-time for the Junior League of Gainesville.
Cecile lives with her husband, Sam Saxon, her mother, Gladys Sands and their cat Carbon. She enjoys singing in St. Augustine’s choir and in the Voices Choral Ensemble, cooking with her husband, baking, gardening and researching her family history.
