Purpose of organization: Helps the poor through home visitations and with food, clothing vouchers, occasional GRU and rent funding.
Volunteers: Auxiliary members help with home visitation, food distribution, rent, GRU and miscellaneous services. Officers and active members do the same and also attend weekly meetings (5:30pm Mondays at Social Hall of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church).
Requirements for volunteers: Fill out application, fingerprinting, completing Protecting God’s Children. Those interacting with clients should be at least 18 years old, though volunteers of any age can help with Christmas baskets, food drives, etc.

Purpose of organization: Agency serves needs of the elderly in north central Florida.
Volunteers are needed to assist in:
Alzheimer daycare center--Volunteering at Al’z Place involves assisting seniors with Alzheimer’s or memory impairment in their daily activities and/or serving lunch and snacks. Al’z is open from 7:45 am- 5 pm, Monday-Friday. Volunteers are essential to program maintenance as they ensure there is always an adequate 1 to 3 patient/staff ratio.
Senior Recreation Center--Assisting at the front desk; assisting members with signing in and general questions; giving tours of the facility; filing, sorting, making copies, general office duites.
Delivering Meals on Wheels or assist at Meal Sites--Lunch is delivered to homebound seniors Monday – Friday between the hours of 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM. Most of these seniors are homebound and have very limited contact with others. Along with delivering lunch, you are also providing much needed human contact and well-being.
Fund raising for ElderCare--Volunteer at an ElderCare of Alachua County annual fundraiser: Moonlight & Martinis (February) Ride to Remember (April) Something New in Orange and Blue (September) ElderCare of Alachua County Golf Tournament (November).
